Shawa Luangwa Camp is situated in the GMA, on the eastern-bank of the Luangwa river looking in to the park itself. The location was hand-picked by Jacob Shawa, the Head Professional Guide at camp. From camp, you can cross the river on a pontoon or boat and explore the prime game-viewing areas of the South Luangwa National Park.
South Luangwa is a sanctuary for wildlife and the birthplace of the walking safari. Reported to have one of the highest concentrations of leopard in Africa, South Luangwa National Park is certainly a sought-after destination for safari enthusiasts.
Located in the heart of the Lupanda Game Management Area, nestled in an ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River. The camp is ideally located to explore both the Park and the Nsefu sector. A 60 minute drive from Mfuwe airport transports you into the heartland of walking safaris
The Camp operates May to November
With conservation in their hearts, it is one of their key missions and they have set up a dedicated organization which actively supports a variety of conservation organizations active in their areas. They take great pride in educating their guests and wherever possible whilst visiting their lodges, actively involve them in these conservations related activities. Some of the initiatives supported in South Luangwa include Game Rangers International, Panthera, Hack the Poacher, Zambian Carnivore Project and South Luangwa Conservation Society.

There are 5 luxury tents elevated off the ground with expansive views of the Luangwa River and the park. 3 luxury double tents can be converted to twin beds. 2 connected tents, one with a king bed and the other with twin beds, can be used as a family tent or sold separately. They are separated by a 5m elevated walk way. Each tent has its own private deck.
Bathrooms are en suite with showers enclosed with a shower curtain and toilets in separate cubicles. Double vanities with brass and copper fittings Sunken bath in the main room Fan Mosquito net Filter coffee, a variety of tea and cookies are provided. Hot water is delivered early morning by flask and can be delivered at any time of the day on request
Game drives in electric game drive vehicle Walking Safaris (only July to October). Maximum of 6 per walking safaris with the minimum age for children is 12 years old Boating Safaris on the Luangwa River (seasonal depending on river level)
Children of all ages are welcome 2 connected tents, one with a king bed and the other with twin beds, can be used as a family tent or sold separately. They are separated by a 5m elevated walk way. Each tent has its own private deck. Children 6 years and older are welcome on game drives but children younger than 6 may only join drives if a private vehicle is available. This arrangement can only be made at the lodge and cannot be guaranteed in advance. Walking Safaris (only July to October).
